Playing Music

Postby Michael-D » Fri Nov 03, 2017 8:58 pm

Today I was playing piano and guitar and recorded this simple groove. (Bmb5, E7, Am7 and went from there) It's nothing very original but would be cool to extend it to have David play Sax on the track. It needs a more melodic instrument to help the solo. :-)

Btw, the chord arrangement I chose is:

Bm7-5, E7, Am7+9/Am11
Bm7-5, E7, Am7, D7, Fmaj7, E7, AM7
Dm7, G7, Cmaj7, Fmaj7, Dm7, G#dim, Am7/Am11

Instrumental version without guitar solo. (Play your solo to the music bed)

I like it! :flowers:

But can you explain what you mean by Am7+9/Am11 and Am7/Am11 :?:

Thanks David.

Ah, my sloppy chord voicing explanation(s). I am alternating between an A minor 7 chord and adding the 9th - or playing an A minor 11. The first chord is a Bm7(b5).

I assumed that +9 meant a raised 9, which would be the same as the minor 3rd in the Am7 (i.e., a C natural). Hence my confusion.

Also the slash usually indicates that two chords are played simultaneously. Also used to indicate an alternate bass note, e.g., Am7/D is an Am7 chord with a D note in the bass.

Can I download that off of SoundCloud? If not, maybe you could email me the mp3 file.

Thanks David. I do use the notation of slash chords (C/E) for alternate bass notes - I do love using many of those chords.

David, I also made an instrumental version without my guitar solo available for download. (Perfect for Sax solo) Though, I do think I will play the bass part again since some speaker breakup is evident to me. I think I'd prefer the bass more clean.
